How to wear glitter eyeshadow

Light-catching glitter is an embellishment that can be taken from the festival to the street—it's only a matter of application.

THE MINIMALIST SWOOSH

  1. Draw a slim silver cat eye along your top lash line.
  2. Dip a thin eyeliner brush in an adhesive (such as a mixing medium or lip gloss) and then dip the brush in loose silver glitter.
  3. Coat the glitter across the silver eyeliner on your top eyelid.
  4. Add more glitter as desired.

THE LOW-KEY BOTTOM LINER

For subtle embellishment, brush loose glitter along your lower lash line, using a mixing medium as an adhesive.

BORROWED FROM THE BOYS

The most festival-ready glitter application lies in a dusting of the upper cheeks, starting at the eye. It's a look taken from the paces of Shakespearian pixies and glam rock musicians like the legendary David Bowie.

THE BIG SPLASH

Give your makeup a playful cisco nod by applying eye gloss or a clear mixing medium to your eyelids, then pressing on as much loose glitter as desired.

THE BOLD STRIPE

Just above the eyelid but just below the brow, a thick strip of chromatic sparkles is at once unexpected and entirely modern.

TIP • Wear under eye stickers when applying glitter shadow to avoid rogue sparkles!
